"Wilde Wasser" Themed Path
The walk along the new 12 km themed path from Schladming to Rohrmoos-Untertal is surely among the highlights of your summer holiday in Sporthotel Royer.
You can also take a sports pram along the popular themed path. There are numerous opportunities to stop for refreshments along the path.
You can shorten the considerable length of the path by taking the walking bus for part of the way and beginning your "Wilde Wasser" walk at one of the bus stops.
There are numerous interesting themes such as legends, drinking water, mills, birds, insects, moorland and rare plants, fish, wildlife, alpine pastures, and the origins of the valley are explained on 14 information boards in German and English. The route alternates between short, roaring cascades and peacefully flowing sections of stream, steep steps and flat land.
Many well marked mountain tours, some demanding, start from the car park at the Riesach waterfall, the end point of the signposted themed path. This is where the "Wilde Wasser" Alpine climb begins.
"Wilde Wasser" Alpine Climb
The Wilde Wasser Alpine Climb opens up the Riesach waterfall, the highest waterfall in Styria. The water thunders down 140 metres over 2 steps into Untertal.
After 30 minutes of walking along a steep but wide winding path with steps you reach the Alpine climb, which stretches through a gorge along the Riesachbach river. You can experience the impressive elemental force of the water. Particularly in spring, after the snow melt, you will find a magnificent natural spectacle here.
The Alpine climb requires surefootedness and a lack of vertigo – nonetheless it is suitable for children, and particularly popular.
The descent via a forest road is accessible to everyone.
