Skiing and snowboarding in the Ski amadé region, and family winter fun
Schladming is famous for its well prepared Planai ski slopes which offer something for every taste and every level of skiing ability. Families with children and skiing enthusiasts find wide, sunny south-facing slopes, advanced skiers can follow in the footsteps of world champions and have a go at the FIS descent, on which the spectacular night slalom takes place annually.
An absolute highlight for the region will be the staging of the next skiing world championships. As a guest in the Sporthotel Royer in Schladming – the world cup venue for 2013 – you are right at the heart of events.
Skiing in the 4 Mountain Ski Link in the middle of the Ski amadé region
223 km of well maintained ski slopes in the 4 Mountain Ski Link extend from Hauser Kaibling to the Reiteralm. Next to the Hochwurzen, the Planai is the central point of the Ski Link and can be easily reached from Sporthotel Royer in a few minutes on foot.
Our attractive winter packages that we have created for you include your ski pass which is valid on the Planai and in all other ski areas in the Ski amadé region. This opens up an incredible range of 860 kilometres of ski slopes with 270 lifts in a total of 25 skiing areas.
The Atomic Superpark Planai is waiting for snowboarders and freestylers. All kinds of boxes, rails, rollers and kickers invite you to go on creative runs and also offer beginners the opportunity to attempt their first tricks, as well as offering the real experts the opportunity to improve their style and measure themselves against one another.
But Schladming does not just offer all kinds of activities for alpine ski fans, cross country skiers and skaters will also be in their element here. There is a network of 472 km of well marked cross country runs and skating routes throughout the Schladming Dachstein region. Glide delightfully through the snowy landscape or train energetically on the high slopes of the Dachstein, the possibilities are almost endless here.
Off-piste winter holiday in Schladming
For an off-piste natural winter experience you can take part in ski tours, snow-shoe walks, wildlife watching trips or a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride. Travel through the glittering winter landscape to places far off the beaten track that will enchant you with their tranquillity and their fairytale atmosphere. The moonlight walk on the Dachstein is something quite special for those seeking romance. At 2,700 m you dive into a moonlit night-time winter paradise and you get a little closer to the starry heavens.
Things are more lively at a fun toboggan party. The region has numerous toboggan runs. The longest is the Hochwuzen toboggan run, which is 7 km long and is illuminated at night for unadulterated tobogganing fun. This natural toboggan run is one of the longest in the Alps. And the ascent in the Hochwurzen cable car is one of the most comfortable ways of getting to the start, bringing you and your toboggan comfortably to the peak.
A visit to the Planai Adventure Park in winter is just as adventurous. At a height of 1,800 m above sea level, and near the Planai cable car station you find not just picturesque views over the Ennstal to Dachstein, but the 40 stations over three courses let you reach your personal limit (and beyond) at various activities up to a height of 14 m.
Of course there are also other famous winter sports available to you on your winter holiday in Schladming. Ice skating, bathing in the Schladming adventure pool, the use of our spacious health spa or our many indoor sports opportunities such as tennis, squash or bowling. Or have a go at the traditional Austrian sport of curling and measure yourself against the local curling professionals at a guest tournament.
