The region has numerous toboggan runs to offer. The longest is the Hochwurzen toboggan run, which is 7 km long and lightened in the evening for uninterrupted tobogganing fun.
The nature toboggan run is one of the longest toboggan runs in the Alps. And one of the most convenient ways to get to the start is to take the Hochwurzen cable lift, which takes you and your toboggan comfortably to the top.
Day and night toboggan runs
The 1 km long, from 18.00h to 22.00h lighted natural toboggan run in Mitterberg invites you both during the day and at night to an amusing toboggan ride. It depends on the weather and the snow situation, if the run toboggan run is opened.The ride takes you down through the forest and then you go back to the starting point by foot.
From the rustic Hochalm, which you reach after a 1 ½ hr. walk via a beautiful hiking path, a 4 km long sled run (floodlit after dark) brings you all the way back to the alpine village.
On top of 123 kilometers of ski slopes, Schladming’s 4 mountain ski area also offers one of the longest toboggan runs in the Alps. The almost 7 km long toboggan run is open daily during cable-car operating times. The Hochwurzen toboggan run is among the most attractive and well-groomed runs in Austria.
Night tobogganing on the Rittisberg is fun for the whole family. At the valley station, you board the Rittisberg cable car, which takes you up the mountain. You can easily transport your toboggan in one of the 10-seater cable lift. If you don’t have your own toboggan with you, you can hire one for a surcharge. At 1500 meters above sea level, your ride down into the valley starts on the 3.5 km long night toboggan run.
